  • यह अच्छा लगा कि उन्होंने सिर्फ सब कुछ काटकर छोड़ नहीं दिया, बल्कि उसका विश्लेषण करके अलग-अलग आइटम डाउनलोड, bulk download, लगभग sample pack जैसा विकल्प, और sequencer भी दिया है
    notes और pitch के हिसाब से filter कर पाना भी शानदार है, और इसके साथ खेलना मज़ेदार लग रहा है
    बस, mouse drag करते समय आवाज़ काफ़ी तेज़ हो जाती है, इसलिए अच्छा होता अगर volume slider होता ताकि overall volume कम न करनी पड़े
    और बेहतर यह होता कि हर clip को perceived loudness के आधार पर normalize किया जाता और on/off toggle भी दिया जाता

    यह लगभग 5 साल पहले Library of Congress residency के दौरान बनाया गया प्रोजेक्ट था, और अनुभव इतना अच्छा रहा कि अब मैं सच में Library में काम करता हूँ

    मेरे पास अभी दो samplers हैं, Korg Drumlogue और Teenage Engineering KO II, जिनके लिए मैं sample library बनाना शुरू ही कर रहा हूँ, और दिलचस्प sounds खोजने के लिए यह बिल्कुल सही टूल है

    • और भी अच्छी बात यह है कि यहाँ सिर्फ संगीत ही नहीं, उसके अलावा भी बहुत सामग्री है
      मैं भी अपने बनाए जा रहे audio processing software के अलग-अलग हिस्सों को test और debug करने के लिए public domain audio files ढूँढ रहा था, तभी यह मिला
      speech recognition जैसी testing में भी कुछ files काम आ सकती हैं, इसलिए interviews और readings की recordings में मेरी खास दिलचस्पी है
      बेशक यहाँ दिलचस्प संगीत भी मिला-जुला होगा, इसलिए इसे खंगालने का इंतज़ार है

  • सचमुच शानदार
    एक कमी बस यह लगती है कि “browse” mode में clips थोड़ी लंबी होतीं तो अच्छा रहता
    या फिर जब तक mouse या trackpad दबाकर रखा जाए, clip चलती रहती तो बेहतर होता
    अभी, जब तक मैं इसे गलत इस्तेमाल नहीं कर रहा, clips इतनी छोटी हैं कि उनमें क्या है इसका बस हल्का-सा अंदाज़ा ही मिलता है
    इसके अलावा यह बेहद अच्छी तरह बनाया गया काम है

    • processing के दौरान लंबे clips से अलग-अलग sounds निकाले जाते हैं, इसलिए उद्देश्य पूरी track या recording को खंगालना नहीं, बल्कि उन छोटे clips को explore करना है
      music production samples ढूँढने के लिए यह काफ़ी अच्छा बैठता है
      फिर भी, clip चुनने के बाद “Play in context” दबाएँ तो पहले और बाद के संदर्भ के साथ वह sound सुन सकते हैं
      पूरी track या recording “View on loc.gov” दबाकर पूरी सुनी जा सकती है

    मैं काफ़ी समय से federal recordings इस्तेमाल करना चाहता था, और यह टूल उसे बेहद आसान बना देता है
