    • The Waldorf Astoria में linen ironing
    • NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital में medical equipment sterilization
    • Metropolitan Museum of Art

  • उनके ‘Holly System of Direct Water Supply and Fire Protection for Cities, Towns and Villages’ ने घरों और fire hydrants को लगातार pressurized water सप्लाई किया, जिससे reservoirs और standpipes की जरूरत कम हुई

New York Steam Company

  • Wallace Andrews और Charles E. Emery ने Holly का design देखकर New York City में steam system लागू करने का फैसला किया
  • 1882 के पहले operational year में New York Steam ने कुल 200,000 डॉलर का revenue कमाया, जो inflation adjust करने पर लगभग 6 मिलियन डॉलर था
  • शुरुआती steam station आज के World Trade Center memorial की site, 172–176 Greenwich St पर बनाया गया
    • New York Steam Corporation
    • Standard Oil Building
    • Ritz Tower Building
    • New York Life Insurance Company
    • Paramount Building
    • Chrysler Building
    • Waldorf-Astoria
    • Rockefeller Center
    • Empire State

    • Heat loss

  • NYC Department of Buildings data
  • Pricing structure high-density buildings

  • मौजूदा system की end-to-end efficiency 60% है {p:60}

Condensate recovery cost और energy loss

    • Helsinki: 870 miles
    • Copenhagen: 1,000 miles
    • Stockholm: 1,200 miles
    • Vienna: 750 miles
    • Moscow: 10,000 miles

    • housing complexes
    • central business districts
    • government complexes
    • campuses

New York steam system

  • New York City का steam system urban daily life और visual language का हिस्सा बन चुका iconic anachronism है

Hacker News

Carnot cycle efficiency
Usage fees are then added on top, paying anywhere from $11.35 per megapound in the summer to $35.013 during peak season.
steam कई orders of magnitude सस्ती है
  • यह हिस्सा खास तौर पर ध्यान खींचता है: in 1962, the anthracite seam under Centralia, PA – 25 miles to the west of Lehigh County – caught on fire and is still burning today.)
