यदि मूल asset allocation target से विचलन हो जाए, या भविष्य के economic outlook को ध्यान में रखकर asset allocation target बदलना हो, तो rebalancing करना पड़ता है; ऐसे में हर asset के लिए target की तुलना में कितना समायोजन करना चाहिए, इसकी गणना करके rebalancing में मदद करता है
